Sorority honors Valentine queens

Members of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority honored their chosen chapter Valentine queens with a brunch at Hawthorn Community Room in Jefferson City.

Those representing the sorority's chapters were:

• Janet Sampson, of Preceptor Epsilon Kappa, joined in 1976. She has served her chapter as president, vice president and in other positions. Sampson has served as president of City Council and served on both Valentine and Founders Day committees.

She has worked in the retail business and was self-employed as a property manager for more than 30 years. She and her husband Rich have four children and five grandchildren.

• Dorothy Goodin, of Beta Mu Master, joined in 2012. She is currently serving her chapter as corresponding secretary. She worked as a pharmacy purchasing supervisor for Capitol Region Medical Center and is an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary; Voiture 8 & 40; Salon 656; Central Missouri Master Gardeners and is an officer in the Jefferson City Council of Clubs.

She has five children, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church.

• Donna Register, of Preceptor Theta, joined in 1964 and received her Golden Circle Award this year. She has served her chapter in many capacities and is currently president. Register is an administrative assistant to the controller at DeLong's, Inc.

She has two children and four grandchildren. She is a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church.

• Debbie Brunner, of Preceptor Lambda Epsilon, joined in 1997. She has coordinated many service projects for her chapter and is the founding executive director of the new Stephens College Health Science Academy. She is also a board member for River City Habitat for Humanity and volunteers for Destination Imagination.

She and her husband Mark have four children.

• Janet Brown, of Preceptor Lambda Iota, joined nearly 40 years ago. She received her master's degree and has held every office and currently serves her chapter as social chairman. She works in the Human Resources Department of Central Bank.

She and her husband Kevin have two children and two grandsons. She is a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and Ladies Sodality.

• Eve Ward, of Xi Chi, has held all offices in her chapter and City Council. She retired as a latent technician for MSHP/AFIS. She currently works as volunteer service representative at the VA Hospital for VFW Ladies Auxiliary Department of Missouri. Ward is a member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary 1003 and Veterans Council and Columbia VA Hospital volunteer.

She and her husband have two children.

• Lillian Elizabeth Minor, of Tau Master, joined in 1958. She was a life member and held every position. She was an advisor to chapters including Nu Phi Mu chapter in 1962. She was the phone contact and kept everyone informed of events. Minor died July 24, 2014.

• Mary "Lisa' Elizabeth Moore, of Tau Master, joined in 1962. She was a life member and served in all officer positions and chaired many committees over the years. Moore was involved in many organizations and loved to travel. She died Jan. 5, 2015.
