Jays second at wrestling tourney

IMPERIAL, Mo. - The Jefferson City Jays put nine wrestlers in the finals Saturday on their way to finishing second in the Seckman Tournament.

Seckman took the title with 204 points. Jefferson City was second with 192.5, while Washington was third with 125

Of the nine Jays finalists, Jacob Brune at 145 pounds and Jalen Martin at 195 claimed their weight-class crowns.

Taking second for the Jays were Peter Kuster at 113, Corbin Howard at 120, Christian Mayberry at 126, Tanner Irwin at 138, Zach Hurley at 152, Logan Moriarity at 160 and Tekoah Sage at 170. Dennis Barnes was third at 132.

The Jays will host a Class 4 district tournament Friday and Saturday at Fleming Fieldhouse.
