NEWBURG, Mo. - The St. Elizabeth Lady Hornets claimed third place in the Newburg Tournament on Saturday with a 54-51 win against Steelville.
The Lady Hornets, the No. 6 seed, led 14-9 after one quarter and 24-19 at the half. It was 36-33 in favor of St. Elizabeth heading into the final period. Shanley Kliethermes went 4-of-6 at the free-throw line down the stretch to seal the win for the Lady Hornets.
Brooke Struemph finished with 22 points and 15 rebounds for the winners, her fifth double-double of the season. Mackenzie Struemph added 18 points while grabbing seven rebounds.
Mykenzie Livesay finished with 16 points to lead Steelville.
St. Elizabeth (7-12) will play Monday at Iberia.
