Construction appears to have begun on Jefferson City's soon-to-be Harbor Freight, as work is occurring at the 2009 Missouri Blvd. building, and the national retailer obtained a building permit from the city in December.
Harbor Freight is a privately-held discount tool/equipment retailer based in Calabasas, California. The retailer first filed building plans with Jefferson City last November that show few planned structural modifications to the building that formerly housed a discount furniture store.
Harbor Freight also is hiring for several positions at the planned Jefferson City location including cashiers, pricing coordinators, warehouse supervisor and store manager.
Company representatives did not return calls for comment regarding when it plans to open.
