ST. LOUIS (AP) - A nonprofit parks group that oversees Gateway Arch concession sales says that customer credit card information may have been stolen from the iconic attraction and two other St. Louis historic sites.
The Jefferson National Parks Association said Friday that it was informed of the data breach by federal officials nearly two months ago. The credit hacking involved purchases at the Arch's museum store and the Levee Mercantile shop. Purchases at other Arch retailers, including tram and riverboat ticket booths, were not affected.
Investigators traced the computer malware used to obtain customer information back to November 2013, when the compromised point-of-sale terminals were located at the Old Courthouse downtown and the Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site.
The parks group said it has switched to a more secure payment system.
