Tiger wrestlers roll to dual win

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Missouri and Buffalo wrestling teams split the first two matches of Friday's night dual match.

After that, it was all Tigers.

Cole Baumgartner's win by fall at 141 pounds started a run of eight straight wins for the Tigers, who romped to a 43-6 win. The victory improved the Tigers to 19-0 overall and 7-0 in the Mid-American Conference.

It is the most wins in a season for Missouri, bettering the record of 18 set three times, the latest in 2008-09.

The Tigers got an 8-2 win from Alan Waters at 125 pounds to start the match, then forfeited to the Bulls at 133.

Baumgartner, the former Jefferson City Jay, then got his pin in just 2:06 and the Tigers were on their way.

LeRoy Barnes (149) won by fall in 2:25 and Joseph LaVallee got an 18-4 major decision.

Following a 5-3 win for Mike England (165), Cody Johnston (174) won by fall in 5;29 and Willie Miklus (189) won by fall in 2:29.

J'Den Cox (197) of the Tigers got a 17-0 win by technical fall, getting the deciding points with just 25 seconds left in the match.

Devin Mellon (285) wrapped up the night with a 10-1 win.

Missouri returns to action at noon Sunday at Eastern Michigan in a conference dual.
