Fire at Church Farm under investigation

Authorities are investigating what caused a fire at the old Church Farm Prison, Thursday night.

Jefferson City Fire Department reports show at 8:12 p.m. fire fighters were dispatched to a report of a natural cover fire at the old prison in the 2600 block of Missouri 179.

The first engine company on the scene reported that a guard shack was on fire. Fire was showing from two sides of the building and on the roof.

Fire crews extinguished the fire and had the incident under control within 10 minutes.

There was no injuries as a result of the fire and the building is considered a total loss.
