Fatima, Southern Boone girls to meet for title

ASHLAND, Mo. - The Fatima Lady Comets and Southern Boone Lady Eagles will meet for the Southern Boone Classic title after semifinal victories Thursday night.

In Thursday's first semifinal, Fatima jumped out to a 25-2 lead after one quarter and cruised to a 67-28 victory against Hallsville.

Kate Massman had 18 points to pace the Lady Comets, who led 40-12 at the half and 60-19 after three quarters. Morgan Brandt added 15 for Fatima (18-2, ranked No. 5 in Class 3).

In the second semifinal, Southern Boone led 14-2 after one quarter on its way to a 51-32 victory against the Blair Oaks Lady Falcons.

The Lady Eagles led 26-14 at the half and 43-24 after three quarters.

Chelsea Emerson finished with eight points for Blair Oaks (8-11).

Fatima and Southern Boone will play at 6 p.m. Saturday for the Classic title. Hallsville and Blair Oaks will square off at 3 p.m. in the third-place game.
