Girls Basketball: St. Elizabeth 64, Bourbon 13

NEWBURG, Mo. - The St. Elizabeth Lady Hornets held Bourbon to single digits in every quarter and rolled to a 64-13 win Monday in the opening round of the Newburg Tournament.

Bourbon, the third seed, was without six varsity players who have been suspended a week for a violation of team rules. The sixth-seeded Lady Hornets took advantage, outscoring the Warhawks 17-6 in the first quarter, 21-2 in the second, 18-1 in the third and 8-4 in the fourth.

Brooke Struemph had 20 points and seven rebounds for the winners, while Regan Wilde had 12 points. Megan Kemna added 11 points and five rebounds for the Lady Hornets and Mackenzie Struemph had 10 points and six rebounds.

St. Elizabeth improves to 6-11, while Bourbon is now 10-7.

The Lady Hornets will play the winner of Monday's late game between Newburg and Vienna at 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
