Man dies after jon boat hits rock on Gasconade River

OWENSVILLE, Mo. (AP) - A 57-year-old man has died after a jon boat struck a rock and sunk on the Gasconade River.

The Missouri Highway Patrol identified the victim as Neal J. Turnbough, of Owensville. He and another man were traveling upstream Friday night near Morton's Bluff when the collision happened. The boat had an engine problem, became caught in a current and took on water.

The Owensville Fire Department pulled Turnbough from the water. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
