How area wrestling teams fared

Here's a summary of results for area high school teams -- Helias, Jefferson City, Blair Oaks -- competing in wrestling tournaments on Saturday.

Helias nabs crown at Warrensburg

WARRENSBURG, Mo. - Jacob Schulte of Helias took individual honors while the Crusaders claimed the team title Saturday at the Warrensburg Invitational.

Schulte finished 5-0 to win the title at 145 pounds. Schulte won four of his matches by fall, three in the first period, including a 59-second victory against Scott Parrack of Oak Park for the title.

Helias finished with 125.5 team points to win the title. Webster Groves was second with 124 in the 16-team event, while Warrensburg was third with 112.5.

Logan Distler at 160 and Nick Carr at 170 were both second for Helias, while Nick Schnieders at 120 and Nick Gaines at 126 were third.

Lane Rose of Helias finished first in the 285 B bracket, while Spencer Ainsworth was second for the Crusaders in the 220 B bracket. Nick Carr was third in the 170 B bracket.

Helias is back in action Tuesday at Waynesville.

Jays take seventh

ST. CHARLES, Mo. - The Jefferson City Jays finished seventh in the Thrasher Wrestling Tournament that concluded Saturday at Francis Howell High School.

The Jays, who were open at four weight classes, finished with 194.5 points. Holt won the 24-team event with 321.5, with Lafayette (299.5) and Francis Howell (289) rounding out the top three squads.

Peter Kuster took third at 113 pounds for the Jays, finishing 4-1 in the two-day tournament. Taking fourth for the Jays were Jacob Brune at 145 (5-2) and Jalen Martin at 195 (4-2). Ian Coil at 220 (5-1) and Logan Coil at 285 (5-1) both finished fifth.

Jefferson City is back in action Tuesday in a dual at Rock Bridge. The Jays have won 31 straight regular-season duals.

Falotico wins title

SENECA, Mo. - Frankie Falotico claimed the title at 132 pounds for Blair Oaks in the Seneca Invitational that concluded Saturday.

Falotico finished 8-0 in the two-day event. He won four times by fall and claimed the title with a 10-4 decision against Aaron Grigsby of Bentonville, Ark.

Blair Oaks, which was open in six weights, finished 10th in the team standings with 117.5 points. Seneca won the title with 424.5, while Heritage was second with 345.5 and Har-Ber third with 330.5.

Tanner Lueckenhoff finished fifth at 182 for the Falcons with a record of 4-3.

Blair Oaks is back in action Friday at Whitfield.

Jays JV takes fourth

SENECA, Mo. - Mehki Burnley won the title at 220 pounds for the Jefferson City Jays junior varsity Saturday in the Seneca Invitational.

Burnley finished 7-1 in the two-day event, winning the title with an 8-6 victory against Joseph Woodiel of Parkview.

The Jays beat several varsity teams and finished fourth as a team with 271.5 points. Seneca was first with 424.5, with Heritage (345.5) and Har-Ber (330.5) rounding out the top three in the 16-team event.

Jacob Tanner at 120, Tyler Bise at 145 and Taylor McNail at 285 all were second for Jefferson City. Jacob LaBella was third, while Reece Neighbors was fourth.
