BizBeat: Busch's Florist freshens look

The new owners of Busch's Florist & Green House are freshening up the Madison Street store in Jefferson City in preparation for the business' 125th anniversary next year.

Heather and Nick McKague wanted to give the shop "a little bit younger feel while still keeping the older roots," Nick said. "Even though we're 125 years old, we're staying with the trends. We're not your grandmother's florist; we're everyone's florist."

The two-week renovation that wrapped last week included fresh paint, new window and front-room decorations and a new approach to the store's organization. The front room will remain a display room, but the second room from the entrance has been rearranged to incorporate a consultation area for families to meet and plan floral arrangements for funerals and weddings. The design room will remain in the back, but the owners' office will be moved downstairs.

Since purchasing Busch's last August, the McKague's have also re-branded by painting all delivery vans an easily identifiable shade of purple.
