Lebanon finishes fifth in Holiday Hoops Invitational

The Lebanon Lady Jackets held Alton, Ill., scoreless in the final 2:45 of the game Wednesday to take a 48-42 decision from the Lady Redbirds in the fifth-place game of the Holiday Hoops Invitational at Rackers Fieldhouse in Jefferson City.

A 3-pointer by LaJarvia Brown of Alton tied the game at 42 with 2:45 to play. But Lebanon regained the lead on a basket by Mikalyn Callahan with 1:40 remaining. Kelsey Winfrey and Callahan each hit two free throws in the final :17.1 to ice the victory.

Lebanon led by as many as eight in the first quarter before taking a 16-14 advantage into the second period. The Lady Jackets led 26-22 at the break and 38-33 after three quarters.

Winfrey finished with a game-high 20 points, while Callahan added 12.

Brown paced Alton with 19 points while Jewel Wagner finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds. It was Wagner's third double-digit rebounding game of the Invitational.
