Girls Basketball: Hickman bounces Lebanon

It was the Ny'jah White Show.

The Hickman junior finished with a double-double with 29 points and 10 rebounds Monday to lead the Kewpies to a 53-21 victory against the Lebanon Yellowjackets in the opening round of the State Farm Holiday Hoops Invitational at Rackers Fieldhouse.

White had nine points in the first quarter as Hickman took a 19-13 advantage into the second period. She scored 10 more in the second quarter and Hickman stretched its advantage to 33-17.

Lebanon scored just four points again in the third quarter as Hickman led 48-21 with one period remaining. Hickman outscored Lebanon 7-0 in the fourth quarter.

White was 12-of-17 from the field and 5-of-6 from the line in the game. White's 12 field goals are a single-game Invitational record, bettering the mark of 11 held by four players.

Hickman hit 22-of-33 shots in the game.

Danni Nichols added 13 points for Hickman as the game had a running clock for the last half of the fourth quarter.

Jaiden Offutt finished with eight points to lead Lebanon, while Kelsey Winfrey pulled down five rebounds.

Hickman will face Helias in the semifinals at 7 p.m. today. Lebanon will take on Blue Springs South in a loser's bracket semifinal at 5:30 p.m.
