BizBeat: St. Louis company opens Jefferson City satellite

TAYCON-TMI, a Chesterfield-based building automation and systems integration company, has established a satellite office in Jefferson City to accommodate increasing work in the area.

The office is located at 1214 Industrial Drive.

TAYCON-TMI works nationwide and has worked in Central Missouri for several years, said company president John McVey.

"We apply technology to operating buildings more efficiently to provide for comfortable work environments," McVey said. "So we effectively put in a system that manages the heating, air conditioning, lighting and other facility functions in order to maintain an efficiently operating system and maintain the space comfortably."

The Jefferson City office will not necessarily bring any new jobs to the company locally, but the company subcontracts its installation to local electrical contractors.

"We have a lot of things sourced out of St. Louis; we will be sourcing a lot of those more locally," McVey said, noting engineering work and administrative functions as examples.

"We have kept a pretty steady amount of business in the area. We have a good backlog of work for next year, and we anticipate doing additional work, so we just felt it was the right time," McVey continued. "We've done work in the area for a number of years and think that it's a great place to do business, and we want to continue to grow our footprint there."

TAYCON-TMI also has satellite offices in Kansas City and Springfield.
