Jefferson City Boy Scout troop receives national honor

Jefferson City's Boy Scout Troop 10, chartered by Grace Episcopal Church, has earned the National Outdoor Challenge.

It's the second year in a row the troop received the honor. The troop is the first in the Great Rivers Council, which includes 35 counties in central and northeastern Missouri, to earn the award.

Requirements to receive the award included developing an annual plan, conducting 10 outdoor activities and one Leave No Trace training session with 50 percent of the troop attending, conducting an outing with a Cub Scout Webelos den, attending summer camp, and earning at least one outdoor-related merit badge per scout.
