Your Opinion: Reply to MU request

Dear Editor:

On Dec. 11 I received a request for a donation from the University of Missouri vice chancellor for alumni relations. The following is my reply to that request:

I received your request for donations today. I am greatly offended that you would presume that I would support Mizzou. I was taught that to be successful in life you stand on the principles which made our country great i.e. the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the Ten Commandments.

In the latest debacle at MU two people were forced to resign because the majority was afraid to stand on principle. The references to racism were never proven to be perpetrated by anyone from MU. Then the football coach teaches his players that it is certainly correct to ignore rule of law i.e. (a contract to play football for MU) rather than let them suffer the consequences for inappropriate actions.

During the protest against "racism" one of the faculty, Mellissa Click, positively and on camera violated the First Amendment rights of a journalist trying to cover the protest. Not only that, she perpetrated physical violence against him. She is still on staff as far as I know. I have not seen a news article that indicated that she had been fired or forced to resign.

If you want me to impact the future of Mizzou, as you indicate in your request for donations, I will; just as soon as I see that Mellissa Click has been fired and you have persons in the administration who are not going to kowtow to people who are bent on anarchy.

The administration is there to operate the university; the students are there to learn. When you have that idea in perspective, I might consider a donation.
