NORFOLK, Va. - The Capitol Area Track Club had six members qualify for the AAU Junior Olympics earlier this month, with two capturing All-American status.
Attending the event, which took place Aug. 3-8 were A'tiq Muhammad, Louisa Nylander, Kevin Rome Jr., Kalie Strayhorn, Kiara Strayhorn and Rashaun Woods.
Muhammad and Kiara Strayhorn earned All-American honors by finishing in the top eight of their events. Muhammad placed fifth in the 12-year-old long jump with a leap of 16 feet, 6 inches, while Strayhorn finished seventh in the 11-year-old long jump with a mark of 14-8.
