Sweep for Lady Crusaders in volleyball

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Helias volleyball teams went 6-0 in matches Saturday with Kickapoo and Republic at Kickapoo.

The varsity started its day with a 25-20, 19-25, 25-22 win against Kickapoo.

Ashley Dudenhoeffer racked up 39 assists and six service points for the Lady Crusaders, while Blake Berhorst had 32 digs. Hannah Borchelt and Hannah Eynard had 10 kills apiece and Megan Brown had nine service points.

Later in the day, the Lady Crusaders dropped Republic 25-19, 25-9.

Dudenhoeffer had 18 assists and nine service points, Berhorst had 15 digs and six service points and Brown had six digs and five service points. Also, Erin Wyrick had five kills and Suzie Kuensting had five blocks.

The Helias JV opened with a 27-25, 25-19 win against Kickapoo.

Regan Bruns had nine service points, five kills and four blocks to pace the Lady Crusaders. Amie Henson had six service points and seven assists, Korie Otto had three kills and three blocks and Bradi Berhorst had eight digs.

The Lady Crusaders then topped Republic 25-17, 25-16.

Riley Bernskoetter amassed 10 assists and five service points, Elizabeth Mealy had eight digs and six service points and Callie Henson and Bruns notched four kills each.

The Helias freshmen rallied to win their opener 21-25, 27-25, 25-21 against Kickapoo.

Jada Oldham racked up 14 assists, 12 service points and six kills, while Olivia Farrow had 11 kills, 20 digs and seven service points. Sommer Kolb posted 18 assists and eight kills and Krystal Brauner picked up 17 digs.

Helias then rolled over Republic 25-13, 25-9.

Brauner had 12 service points and eight digs, Oldham had 11 service points and 11 assists and Reagan Bernskoetter and Farrow had six kills apiece.

Each of the Helias teams is now 4-0 on the season heading into Tuesday's match with Jefferson City. The freshman and JV matches will both start at 5:30 p.m., with the varsity expected to begin around 6:30 p.m.
