Illinois man charged in St. Louis New Year's Eve crash

ST. LOUIS (AP) - A 27-year-old southern Illinois man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with a New Year's Eve collision in St. Louis.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (bit.ly/1PEOqlI) reports that Willie Green of Belleville was charged Friday with involuntary manslaughter while intoxicated, second-degree assault, leaving the scene of an accident and armed criminal action.

He's accused of causing 20-year-old Xander Wohlstadter's death and severely injuring the victim's teenage girlfriend. The two were coffee shop co-workers.

Green allegedly had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system when he lost control of his speeding car and ran a red light.

A St. Louis judge ordered Green held on $250,000 cash bail, but he was not yet in custody Friday. Online court records don't list an attorney on his behalf.
