Eldon woman indicted on federal firearms charge

An Eldon woman has been indicted by a federal grand jury for illegally possessing firearms.

Talissa Dawn Dummermuth, 41, was charged with being a felon in possession of firearms in an indictment returned under seal by a federal grand jury in Jefferson City on Aug. 19. That indictment was unsealed and made public Friday upon Dummermuth's arrest and initial court appearance. She remains in federal custody pending a detention hearing.

The federal indictment alleges that Dummermuth was in possession of a Hawes .22-caliber pistol, a Ruger .22-caliber revolver and a Smith & Wesson semi-automatic pistol on July 22.

Under federal law, it is illegal for anyone who has been convicted of a felony to be in possession of any firearm or ammunition. Dummermuth has a prior felony conviction for selling methamphetamine.
