ST. ELIZABETH, Mo. - The Blair Oaks Lady Falcons rode the pitching and hitting of Payton Staggs to a season-opening, 9-0 win against St. Elizabeth on Tuesday.
Staggs threw a complete-game four-hitter, striking out 13, to get the win in the circle.
At the plate, Staggs racked up a single, double and two RBI.
Carli Buschjost had two singles, a double and one RBI for the Lady Falcons, while Emily Jones, Natalie Mudd and Macyn Wilbers had one hit and one RBI apiece.
Blair Oaks (1-0) plays Thursday at Centralia, while St. Elizabeth (0-1) hosts Jefferson City on Thursday.
Blair Oaks won the JV game 15-0. Brooke Boessen had a triple and two RBI for the Lady Falcons and Tori Thurston was 1-for-1 with one RBI. Meredith Eisterhold was the winning pitcher, striking out three.
