Dear Editor:
As for the dilemma of what to do about funding Planned Parenthood, I think we should first look at the contradiction in the name of their organization.
If abortions are necessary, then the more appropriate name for them is Unplanned Parenthood. If they were doing their jobs to assist women to plan their pregnancies then they should be dispensing birth control efficiently. There should never be a need for abortion. However, abortion is a very lucrative business for them, so why would they want to stop doing them?
They should be treated like any other business that is expected to provide what their name implies. If they aren't following guidelines which will prevent unwanted pregnancies, then they shouldn't receive funding from the government or change their name to Unplanned Parenthood.
