The hotel is undergoing major remodeling in which it is getting a new coat of paint, both inside and out, new room furniture including headboards, new carpet and new kitchen cabinets.

Jefferson City will be home to a virtually brand-new Candlewood Suites by mid-fall.

The 3514 Amazonas Drive hotel, which celebrated its 10th anniversary in May, began an extensive renovation in June that will repaint every wall, replace all flooring and switch out every piece of furniture in its 80 rooms, plus all public spaces.

Candlewood Suites' exterior also will be repainted, and the hotel's outdoor gazebo space with a barbecue grill available for guest use will be completely revamped with a covered awning.

The renovation project is scheduled for completion in mid-October, said General Manager Nicole Bishop.

"It's a fresher, more up-to-date look for everything," Bishop said.

The hotel has agreed to make such improvements every 10 years, per its franchise agreement with InterContinental Hotels Group.

Renovation work has been completed on one of the hotel's four floors. The hotel will continue to shut down each floor one by one until the project is finished.
