6 injured in area accidents

Two Mid-Missourians remained in the hospital Saturday evening after they were injured in area traffic accidents.

At least six people were sent to hospitals for treatment following three separate accidents Friday and early Saturday.

• Kimberly A. Levy, 37, of Barnett, was listed in good condition Saturday at Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, after the car she was riding in ran off Route W in Miller County at 12:07 a.m. Saturday.

Levy was the passenger in a 2005 Dodge Neon driven by Robert G. Nitschke, 29, of Barnett.

Officials said he was driving northbound on Route W, about four-tenths of a mile north of Jade Road, when he swerved to avoid hitting a deer. The vehicle ran off the right side of the highway, then off the left side when Nitschke over-corrected. It hit a ditch and overturned.

Nitschke was treated and released from Lake Regional.

The Highway Patrol said both Nitschke and Levy were wearing seat belts.

• Ida L. Henricks, 71, of Holts Summit, was treated Friday afternoon St. Mary's Hospital, after she was hurt in a one-vehicle accident at 2:10 p.m. Friday on eastbound U.S. 54 at South Summit Drive in Callaway County.

The patrol said Henricks "experienced a medical condition" and lost control of her 2015 Subaru Forester, which ran off the left side of the highway and hit a guardrail.

A passenger - who was not identified and not reported as being hurt - grabbed the steering wheel, and the vehicle veered across both lanes of traffic and went off the right side of the road, stopping in the grass.

Henricks was wearing her seat belt, the patrol said, and there was no information on the passenger's seat belt use.

• Cherie L. Wallace, 58, of Jefferson City, was listed in good condition Saturday at Capital Region Medical Center, where she was taken after a two-vehicle collision on Missouri 179 in Moniteau County.

The Patrol said Wallace was southbound when her 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee crossed the center line and into the northbound lane, where she was hit by a 2012 Honda CR-V driven by Jane L. Peters, 63, of Jefferson City.

Peters and her passenger, Kenneth L. Peters, 63, of Jefferson City, were treated at St. Mary's Hospital.

Troopers said all three people involved in the 1:43 p.m. accident were wearing seat belts.
