ASHLAND, Mo. -- The Southern Boone Eagles are looking to build off the momentum of last football season.
The Eagles rattled off four consecutive wins late in the year before falling in the district semifinals. And with the return of nine starters on each side of the football, Southern Boone figures to improve on its final mark of 4-7 in Trent Tracy's second year as head coach.
The defense figures to be led by returning all-district lineman Jacob Cole. The senior finished with 58 tackles last season, including two sacks.
The offense looks to improve with returning quarterback Dane Bossert at the helm.
Grant Anderson, an all-district pick in 2014, returns on offense after picking up 750 total yards last season.
Trent Nichols was an all-district selection on the offensive line.
Southern Boone is slated to begin the season tonight at St. Pius X: Festus.
