Your Opinion: Movement indulges in self-pity

Dear Editor:

The fanatical "Black Lives Matter" movement is the biggest pity party in America. Their self-pity from misrepresentation and exaggeration of one bad situation justifies why they don't pursue self-improvement instead of preaching hatred of law enforcement and whites.

When they shout down a politician that stated all lives matter, they displayed an unattractive victim mentality and indicated their rejection of rational thought while embracing uncontrolled emotions. Self-pity does not improve self worth; rather it ignites an agitated burst of other negative emotions such as hatred and resentment. Trying to hold a discussion with "Black Lives Matter" protesters leads to their screaming plus threats of violence.

Radical blacks have been separating themselves from American society like Muslims. Their separation has led them to indulge in real hatred against perceived enemies. Such hatred gives others power over their happiness and even their health. I for one will not give them the special attention they desire but only treat them with equality under the law. Perhaps someday they will empower themselves by rejoining America rather than their futile pursuit of destructive self-pity.
