Seven area teams received votes in the preseason state high school football poll released this morning.
Five of the teams are in the top 10 of their respective classes.
The Blair Oaks Falcons are highest ranked among the five, holding down the No. 4 spot in Class 3. The California Pintos are also in the Class 3 rankings at No. 7, while Eldon and School of the Osage are both receiving votes in the class. All four are members of the Tri-County Conference.
The Jefferson City Jays are No. 6 in the Class 6 rankings, while the Helias Crusaders hold down the No. 6 spot in Class 4. The South Callaway Bulldogs enter the season ranked No. 7 in Class 2.
Three teams are unanimous picks at No. 1 in their respective classes in voting by 15 media members from around the state - Webb City in Class 4, Lamar in Class 2 and Valle Catholic in Class 1.
C.B.C. received nine first-place votes and tops the Class 6 rankings, with second-ranked Rockhurst receiving the other six first-place nods.
Four Class 5 schools got at least one first-place vote. Fort Osage and Park Hill, ranked No. 1 and 2, received five first-place votes each. No. 3 Battle got four, while No. 5 Staley received one.
In Class 3, Oak Grove got 13 of the 15 first-place votes to top the rankings. No. 2 John Burroughs received the other two No. 1 votes.
