Two area residents were killed Sunday in two separate accidents.
At 6:05 p.m. in Pulaski County, Michael Hertel, 58, Iberia, was on Route W, a half-mile west of Waynesville, when he went off the right side of the road, struck the ground and overturned. His vehicle struck a sign and came to rest on its wheels.
Missouri Highway Patrol reports show Hertel was pronounced dead at the scene.
His passenger, Jannette Lesmeister, 49, Iberia, was treated for minor injuries.
Hertel and Lesmeister were wearing seat belts.
At 5:10 a.m. in Miller County, Bruce Spalding, 57, Versailles, was on Route Y west of Isbon Road when he ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected and ran off the left side of the road. His vehicle became airborne and hit a tree.
Patrol reports show he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Spaulding was not wearing a seat belt.
