Expect school zone enforcement

The Jefferson City Police Department would like to remind motorists school will be back in session this week.

JCPD officials said their officers will have a noticeable presence in school zones, and will assertively enforce school zone speed limits, child restraint violations, school bus stop sign violations and other hazardous moving violations.

Additionally, through funding provided by MoDOT's Traffic and Highway Safety Division and the Missouri Safety Center, extra officers will be on duty with the sole purpose of enforcing hazardous moving violations within city school zones and along school bus routes.

Drivers are encouraged to be patient with school traffic, to exercise added caution when driving in or near school zones and to be attentive to school buses while loading and unloading children.
