Your Opinion: Vandalism siphons tax dollars

Dear Editor:

While reading the Aug. 7 edition of the News Tribune, I saw two pictures on the front page of "Bob" powerwashing the bus stop near Memorial Park.

The caption reads that he has to wash this bus stop often. After reading this, I became sad that the City of Jefferson has to use the resources of an employee, machinery and chemicals to wash this station. Sad because these resources could be used for much better reasons around our city.

Instead the taxpayers have to pay for what amounts to most likely a person that does not have good guidance or structure in their life and instead decides to deface public property. I hope and pray that if and when someone like this is caught, that they are ordered to clean up their mess at their own expense.
