Lincoln's Collier going into Mo. Western HOF

Lincoln women's basketball head coach Nicole Collier was announced Monday as a Missouri Western State University Hall of Fame inductee.

Collier will be inducted as a part of a three-member 2015 Hall of Fame Class on the weekend of Oct. 9, according to a Missouri Western press release.

Collier was a an all-MIAA second-team selection in 2001-02 and a first-team pick the following year. The team spent time as the No. 1 team in the nation in both seasons. In 2001-02, the Griffons were crowned the MIAA regular-season and tournament champions, prior to falling in the NCAA South Central Regional.

Collier wasn't shy on the boards. She grabbed 8.8 rebounds per game her senior year, a season where she led the team in rebounds, points (16.2), field goal percentage (52.0) and blocks (2.0).

Collier is also in the Jefferson College Hall of Fame.

Lincoln had its best year last season (14-12) under Collier, who enters her fourth season as the head coach. Collier spent three seasons as the program's primary assistant.

Collier served as an assistant coach this month for the USA Sports Events Division II Select Team in Rio de Janiero. Lincoln players Hunter Yoakum and Kelsey Williams participated on the U.S. team that went 3-1.

Also in the class will be football player Eric Walker and softball player Amy Beverly.
