Cole County students take part in world archery tourney

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Several Cole County competitors took part in the National Archery in the Schools (NASP) World Tournament and NASP 3D Challenge that were held July 22-25 at the Music City Center.

More than 4,870 students in grades 4-12 representing 292 schools in five different countries took part, including 176 Missouri students from 14 schools.

NASP promotes education, self-esteem, and physical activity for students in grades 4-12 through participation in archery.

Missouri students participated through the Missouri National Archery in the Schools Program (MoNASP), which is coordinated through the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) in partnership with numerous schools and supporting organizations throughout the state.

The best area finish came in the World 3-D Challenge, where Joe Wilder of Jefferson City High School placed 22nd out of 654 competitors. He was fourth among 63 ninth-grade boys and 15th out of all 193 high-schoolers.

Wilder also took part in the NASP World Tournament and was 215th out of 2,633 competitors. He was 34th out of 210 ninth-graders and 134th out of 684 high-schoolers.

Here are the results for the other area competitors:

• Chase Carrender, St. Martins - World Tournament: 310th of 2,633 total, 25th out of 333 sixth-grade boys and 108th out of 1,101 middle-school boys.

• William Herrbold, St. Stanislaus - World Tournament: 405th out of 2,633 total, 25th out of 469 fifth-grade boys and 31st out of 848 elementary-school boys; 3D Challenge: 110th out of 654 total, ninth out of 109 fifth-grade boys and 11th out of 201 elementary-school boys.

• Alyssa Gipe, St. Stanislaus - World Tournament: 414th out of 2,238 total girls, 27th out of 378 fifth-grade girls and 35th out of 670 elementary-school girls; 3D Challenge: 162nd out of 485 total girls, 13th out of 73 fifth-grade girls and 16th out of 139 elementary-school girls.

• Elijah Bruemmer, St. Stanislaus - World Tournament: 897th out of 2,633 total boys, 79th out of 469 fifth-grade boys and 111th out of 848 elementary-school boys; 3D Challenge: 387th out of 654 total boys, 42nd out of 109 fifth-grade boys and 66th out of 201 elementary-school boys.

• Maddison Schuelen, St. Martins - World Tournament: 713th out of 2,238 total girls, 132nd ot of 347 eighth-grade girls and 317th out of 959 middle-school girls.

• Garrett Hentges, St. Martins - World Tournament: 998th out of 2,633 total boys, 157th out of 400 seventh-grade boys and 440th out of 1,101 middle-school boys.

• Macy Kopp, St. Martins - World Tournament: 1,010th out of 2,238 total girls, 188th out of 347 eighth-grade girls and 459th out of 959 middle-school girls.

• Wyatt Basinger, St. Stanislaus - World Tournament: 1,358th out of 2,633 total boys, 72nd out of 300 fourth-grade boys and 224th out of 848 elementary-school boys; 3D Challenge: 254th out of 654 total boys, sixth out of 65 fourth-grade boys and 31st out of 201 elementary-school boys.

• Sam Hentges, St. Stanislaus - World Tournament: 1,366th out of 2,633 total boys, 148th out of 469 fifth-grade boys and 227th out of 848 elementary-school boys; 3D Challenge: 277th out of 654 total boys, 27th out of 109 fifth-grade boys and 36th out of 201 elementary school boys.

• Madison Hentges, St. Martins - World Tournament: 1,082nd out of 2,238 total girls, 48th out of 228 fourth-grade girls and 177th out of 670 elementary school girls.

• Cayden Grothoff, St. Stanislaus - World Tournament: 1,496th out of 2,633 total boys, 86th out of 300 fourth-grade boys and 273rd out of 848 elementary school boys; 3D Challenge: 344th out of 654 total boys, 14th out of 65 fourth-grade boys and 51st out of 201 elementary-school boys.

• Emma Eiken, St. Martins - World Tournament: 1,203rd out of 2,238 total girls, 143rd out of 378 fifth-grade girls and 210th out of 670 elementary-school girls.

• Joshua Schubert, St. Martins - World Tournament: 1,516th out of 2,633 total boys, 257th out of 368 eighth-grade boys and 687th out of 1,101 middle-school boys.

• Claire Ashley, St. Stanislaus - World Tournament: 2,182nd out of 2,238 total girls, 55th out of 64 third-grade girls and 635th out of 670 elementary-school girls; 3D Challenge: 470th out of 485 total girls, eighth out of 12 third-grade girls and 130th out of 139 elementary-school girls.

• Blake Luebbering, St. Stanislaus - World Tournament: 2,633rd out of 2,633 total boys, 469th out of 469 fifth-grade boys and 848th out of 848 elementary-school boys; 3D Challenge: 653rd out of 654 total boys, 109th out of 109 fifth-grade boys and 200th out of 201 elementary-school boys.

In addition, St. Stanislaus fielded a team in the elementary division and came in 29th out of 68 teams, while St. Martins competed in the middle-school division and finished 79th out of 90 teams.
