Your Opinion: Consequences of immigration policy

Dear Editor:

Brigitte Amin, an ACLU attorney, recently said that up to 80 percent of the 20,000 young girls who illegally entered the United States last year, from Mexico, were raped; either during their travels to the U.S. or while in U.S. detention centers.

In December 2013, Obama gave our military a year to show it had cut down on the number of sexual assaults in the military. In January 2014 he created a task force to put pressure on colleges to increase their efforts to prevent sexual assaults on their campuses.

At the same time his refusal to enforce our immigration laws makes him directly responsible for the rape of as many as 16,000 young girls who entered the U.S. illegally. His "open door" and proposed amnesty policies enticed them to attempt the dangerous journey.

By the way, ACLU is trying to force Catholic agencies that care for many of these children, and who receive federal funds to do so, to provide them with abortions on demand.
