Jays wrap up baseball play at Festival

LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Jefferson City Jays won a game and lost a game Saturday at the River City Festival, defeating Lee's Summit West 10-9 and losing 3-0 to Raymore-Peculiar.

In the opener, Ripken Dodson was 3-for-4 at the plate with a run scored. Adam Grunden was 2-for-4 with two RBI, Grant Wood went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, and Allan Roettgen went 2-for-4 with a run.

Roettgen started the game for the Jays, allowing two earned runs on three walks and two strikeouts in three innings. Taylor Hartman allowed four earned runs in one-third of an inning, and J.T. Bohlken went 1 1/3 innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits.

Bret Jaegers earned the win by closing out the game with 2 1/3 scoreless innings.

Against Raymore-Peculiar, Grunden went the distance on the mound, allowing one earned run on eight hits and a walk and striking out three.

Grunden, Gaven Strobel and Gerrit Shirts each had a hit for Jefferson City.

The Jays (13-9) play Tuesday at Lebanon.
