Lincoln softball falls twice to Southwest Baptist

BOLIVAR, Mo. - The Lincoln softball team finished the road portion of its schedule by dropping both halves of a doubleheader with Southwest Baptist on Saturday.

The Blue Tigers managed just seven hits while falling by scores of 8-0 and 2-0.

Lincoln got four of those hits in the opener, which was shortened to six innings due to the run rule, with Allyson Corry picking up two singles. The other hit was a double by Jessica Wolken.

The Bearcats scored one run in the first and two in the second before ending it early with a five-run sixth.

Madison Ragar (0-20) pitched the first 5 1/3 innings to take the loss. She gave up seven runs (six earned) on 11 hits and one walk while striking out one. Lauren Stamp got the final out, but not before allowing one unearned run on one hit and one walk.

In the nightcap, Southwest Baptist got single tallies in the first and third innings and made it stand up.

Lincoln's three hits were a double by Avery Myers and singles by Sam Kircher and Kassidey Borland.

Macie Kinsey (2-14) was the tough-luck loser, as she threw a six-hitter and walked three while giving up just one earned run.

Southwest Baptist moved to 22-27 overall and 11-15 in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association, while Lincoln dropped to 3-47 and 2-22.

The Blue Tigers will close out the season with a home doubleheader Monday against Missouri Southern. The first game will start at 2 p.m. at Lincoln Field.
