Lincoln drops doubleheader in softball to Central Missouri

WARRENSBURG, Mo. - The Lincoln Blue Tigers dropped both ends of a Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association doubleheader Thursday to the Central Missouri Jennies.

Central Missouri won the opener 8-4.

After the Jennies took the lead with two runs in the second inning, the Blue Tigers got one of those back in the fifth when Allyson Corry singled home Kassidey Borland.

But the Jennies regained control of the game with five runs in the bottom of the inning. They added a run in the sixth to make it 8-1 before Lincoln scored three times in the top of the seventh.

Spencer Silva and Madison Ragar had RBI in the seventh for the Blue Tigers. The other run came home on a wild pitch.

Avery Myers had two hits in a seven-hit Lincoln attack.

Lauren Stamp pitched the first 12/3 innings for Lincoln, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits. She hit two batters and struck out one. Ragar pitched the final 41/3 innings, giving up six runs (five earned) on 11 hits and a walk while striking out two.

In the nightcap, Central Missouri led 6-0 after three innings on its way to a 9-1 victory in a game shortened to five innings by the run rule.

Lincoln scored its run in the fifth on a solo home run by Madison Gooden, one of three Blue Tiger hits in the game.

Macie Kinsey pitched one inning for Lincoln, allowing five runs (four earned) on six hits. Stamp pitched the final 31/3 innings, allowing four earned runs on four hits and a walk.

Lincoln (3-45 overall, 2-20 MIAA) will be back in action today in a doubleheader against Southwest Baptist in Bolivar.
