Softball: SEC honors Fagan

Missouri's Sami Fagan was named Southeastern Conference Softball Player of the Week on Monday for her efforts last week.

Fagan had a hot week at the plate in a five-game stretch that included a doubleheader against Western Illinois and a road series at Arkansas.

The junior went 11-for-17 (.647) at the plate and drove in 12 runs on seven extra-base hits during the week, including three doubles, a triple and three home runs.

Fagan began Wednesday's doubleheader against the Leathernecks by going 3-for-4 with three RBI. She then went 2-for-3 with one RBI in the nightcap.

In the series opener against Arkansas, she rocketed a line-drive home run in her first at-bat of the contest as part of a three-RBI effort.

On Saturday, Fagan launched two home runs in the same game for the second time this season and added a triple to pile up 11 total bases in another run-rule victory for the Tigers.

She polished off the weekend with one hit and one RBI in Sunday's game.

Fagan leads the team in batting average (.388), RBI (53), hits (47), extra-base hits (24) and total bases (96).

It is the second SEC honor for a Tiger this season, as freshman Paige Lowary won SEC Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 23.
