Bridge to cross Wears Creek on Greenway trailhead

Jefferson City Host Lions Club donated $16,500 as a match donation for a rehabilitated bridge set across Wears Creek on Greenway trailhead on West Edgewood.

The bridge will connect the Greenway at the trailhead to the 2.5-mile mountain biking-hiking trail once accessible only by walking through the creek.

The matching donation enabled Jefferson City to acquire a grant from the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund enabling the rehabilitation of the pedestrian bridge that once crossed Wears Creek in Jefferson City's Millbottom.

The Host Lions chose to participate because of the club's history of involvement with Jefferson City's parks, including the club's role in initiating the city's first Park Board agency last century.
