Tigers host Black and Gold scrimmage today

The Missouri football team's spring camp comes to a close today with its Black and Gold Game at Faurot Field in Columbia. The scrimmage, which begins at 4 p.m., pits the Tigers' offense and defense against one another for the last time until August.

The Southeastern Conference East Division champs return starting quarterback Maty Mauk and tailback Russell Hansbrough - as well as key interior linemen - but Missouri's offense has played second fiddle to its defense so far this spring.

In the Tigers' most recent scrimmage, Mauk completed just 2-of-9 passes, and in the first scrimmage, Missouri quarterbacks combined for seven interceptions. The receiving corps remains a question mark for the offense following the departures of seniors Bud Sasser, Jimmie Hunt and Darius White.

Meanwhile, the defense returns key experience at linebacker and defensive tackle and, despite the loss of star defensive-end duo Shane Ray and Markus Golden, will likely be the reason for the Tigers' success if they are to compete for a third straight division title.

Fans can download a ticket at MUTigers.com that grants free entry for those who bring a non-perishable food item for the Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri.

Starting at 1 p.m., a Fan Fest will be held between the stadium and the Hearnes Center featuring a concert from Dr. Zhivegas, carnival rides and stations at which fans can take photos alongside the Tigers' divisional and Citrus Bowl trophies. Stadium gates open at 3 p.m.

Parking lots will open at 9 a.m. and are available on a first-come, first-served basis, as is seating with the exceptions of the south stands, the "Rock M" hill and the Tiger Deck.

Rain is in the forecast, but umbrellas are not permitted inside the stadium. The game will be broadcast on SEC Network Plus.
