Lincoln's Schnieders deals in loss

JOPLIN - The Lincoln baseball team wasted a tough effort by Trevor Schnieders on Friday, as the Blue Tigers dropped a 4-0 decision to Missouri Southern.

Schnieders twirled a complete game, scattering eight hits across the nine innings, and struck out eight. All four runs were earned and he walked one.

Missouri Southern got a pair of RBI singles in the first inning to open up the scoring. The Lions got their final two runs in the fourth, the first on another RBI single and the other coming home on a balk.

The game lasted a mere one hour and 37 minutes, as Missouri Southern's Tyler Burgess also threw a complete game, limiting the Blue Tigers to just four hits.

Daniel Castillo had a triple for Lincoln, Kolton Clark added a double and Schnieders and Mason Price added a single apiece.

Missouri Southern is now 31-9 overall and 22-5 in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association, while Lincoln falls to 3-38 and 1-26.

The teams will wrap up their series with one nine-inning game starting at 1 p.m. today.
