"Mary Poppins" is based on the book by P.L. Travers and the Walt Disney movie.

In the show, Bert, played by Jared Deutsch, introduces the audience to England in 1910 and to the troubled Banks family. Jane, played by Kierah Taylor, and Michael, played by Landon Talbert, have sent many a nanny packing. Mary Poppins, played by Brooke Striegel, arrives and, using magic and common sense, teaches the family how to value each other again.

Mr. Banks is played by Wyatt Randolph and Winifred is played by Emma Koelling.

Audiences will recognize familiar songs such as "Spoonful of Sugar," "Feed the Birds" and "Supercalifragilisticexpalidocius."

According to director Zoe Koelling the show is totally produced by Lighthouse students, which includes those in the cast and those helping technically.

The musical director is Rebecca Talbert. Both Talbert and Koelling are also teachers at the academy.

There is a total cast and crew of approximately 50 students, including a live band consisting of four to five musicians.

The set is three separate scenes designed by Koelling and produced by the students.

Koelling gives special recognition to Deb Wilson, a parent, who has sewn all of the costumes for the show.

"This is the traveling version of the Broadway show which won nine Olivier and seven Tony awards and is the first time to be performed in this area," Koelling said.

"There is such a strong interest in performing arts at Lighthouse and we are so grateful to Stained Glass Theatre for allowing us to use their facilities. We do not have a gym or area suited to performing a play and Stained Glass is the perfect solution. We hope audiences will truly enjoy the production," Koelling said.
