U-Haul recently opened its first Jefferson City store, U-Haul Moving and Storage of Jefferson City at 311 Ellis Blvd. Formerly Capitol View Self Storage, this facility now offers a full line of U-Haul products and services, including truck and trailer rentals, self-storage and moving supplies, according to a news release.
The 1.38-acre property contains a 48,540-square-foot building constructed in 1974. This building was converted into self-storage in two phases between 2005 and 2012. All 260 self"‘storage rooms are climate-controlled. This property also has 18 RV parking spaces on-site.
Improvements are still being made to the facility, according to the news release.
"Having a U-Haul Moving and Storage location in our state capital for the first time makes a statement to everyone in the area that U-Haul is here to serve the growing community in Jefferson City and the surrounding areas," said Kevin Neighbors, marketing company president of U-Haul Company of Missouri, in the news release.
U-Haul retained Pam Gentry, previous general manager of Capitol View Self Storage, Neighbors said.
"Pam had been the general manager for 13 years and has a great relationship with our current customers. We are lucky to have Pam and look forward to working with her for many years to come," he said.
The acquisition of Capitol View Self Storage was driven by U-Haul Company's Corporate Sustainability initiatives. U-Haul supports infill development to help local communities lower their carbon footprint, and its adaptive reuse of existing buildings reduces the amount of energy and resources required for new-construction materials and helps cities reduce their unwanted inventory of unused buildings, according to the release.
U-Haul Moving and Storage of Jefferson City is open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 7 a.m.-8p.m. Fridays, 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturdays and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Sundays. For more information, call 573-635-7244 or visit uhaul.com.
