Prep Baseball: Vienna wins pair

STEELVILLE, Mo. - Vienna won two games Friday to advance to the championship of the Gasconade Valley Conference Tournament.

The Eagles defeated Viburnum 13-2, then topped Steelville 8-1.

In the opener, Vienna was led by Jacob Howard at the plate, as he hit a double and a home run, drove in four runs and scored three himself.

The Eagles had 11 total hits, including two apiece from Landre Ousley, Seth John and Dalton Backues, all of whom had two RBI.

Braeden Patton was the winning pitcher, allowing no runs on three hits in three innings and striking out three.

Against Steelville, Austin Wieberg picked up a complete-game win, striking out 14 and allowing one earned run on four hits and four walks.

Parker Hayes went 4-for-4 at the plate, including two doubles and a triple, resulting in five RBI. Ousley had a double and two singles and scored three runs. Patton had two hits and an RBI.

Vienna (5-1) plays Bourboun in the GVC Tournament championship at 2 p.m. today in Belle.
