Prep Baseball: Tuscumbia splits pair

The Tuscumbia baseball team split a pair of games in action recently.

On Wednesday, the Lions traveled to Crocker and scored three runs in the top of the seventh to come away with a 9-7 victory.

Tyler Patterson and Orrie Patterson had two hits and one RBI apiece to pace the offense, while Sam Huth had one hit and two RBI.

Also for the Lions, Luke Ahart drove in two runs and Zane Humphreys had a triple.

Nate Simmons got the win in relief, not allowing a hit or run while working the last two innings. Orrie Patterson started and gave up seven runs (four earned) on eight hits and three walks in five innings. He struck out four.

On Tuesday, Tuscumbia dropped a 4-0 decision against South Callaway in Mokane.

The Lions managed just one hit, a single by Orrie Patterson.

Humphreys was the tough-luck loser, as he threw a complete-game four-hitter and struck out four. Only one run was earned.

Tuscumbia is now 1-3 on the season.
