Indiana governor to speak at GOP dinner in Camden County

Indiana Governor Mike Pence is the keynote speaker Saturday at the annual Camden County Lincoln Days Dinner at Lodge of Four Seasons in Lake Ozark.

Pence, was elected as the 50th governor of Indiana in 2012 and inaugurated Jan. 14, 2013.

According to Pence's official website, the state has invested more than $800 million in new money for roads and bridges in Indiana under his leadership. The website said Pence has also achieved the largest state tax cut in Indiana history while also lowering the business personal property tax and corporate income tax to strengthen the state in attracting new investment and jobs for residents. Prior to being elected governor, Pence represented Indiana's sixth congressional district in Congress, according to his website.

Pence approved changes last week to Indiana's now notorious Religious Freedom Restoration Act, spelling out that discrimination by businesses against homosexuals will not be condoned as part of the new law. The measure capped a week's worth of national scrutiny heaped on Pence and the Republican-dominated Statehouse, in which major corporations, other states and celebrities denounced Indiana, threatening boycotts and even relocations.

Other speakers at the event include Lt. Governor Peter Kinder, Senator Roy Blunt, U.S. Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer, U.S. Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler. Other state and local elected officials have been invited to attend.

Doors open and a cash bar is available at 5 p.m. The dinner and program begins at 6 p.m. Admission is $35, which includes all the evening's events and dinner.
