Columbia man pleads guilty in shooting

A Columbia man pleaded guilty to amended charges he faced in connection with the shooting of two juveniles in Jefferson City last December.

D'anglo Harris, 19, pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree assault and tampering with physical evidence.

He had been charged with two counts of first-degree assault, three counts of armed criminal action and one count of unlawful use of a weapon.

For his plea, Harris was sentenced to four years in prison.

A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement shows the shooting occurred in the 600 block of School Street.

Harris was one of six Columbia residents who were in a car that went down School Street, which is a dead-end, turned around and came back. The two victims were outside of one of the residences on the street when they were shot. Harris was not the individual who shot the residents.

The statement said this group confronted the two juveniles "over an ongoing dispute from earlier in the year."

The group fled the scene, but were eventually pulled over and arrested on U.S. 63, near the Boone County line.
