Firefighters discovered smoke coming from the attic area of a residential building Wednesday evening when they arrived on the scene in eastern Jefferson City.
The city's fire department responded around 6:14 p.m. to a report of a lightning strike at 2504 East McCarty Street.
Firefighters reported the situation as under control about a half hour later.
