SIKESTON, Mo. (AP) - The southeast Missouri city of Sikeston is getting ready to replace its airport terminal.
The Sikeston Standard Democrat (http://bit.ly/1yM6HoH) reports that city officials plan to open bids April 28 for construction of the 2,000-square-foot building.
Sikeston public works director Jay Lancaster says the current building is in "great need of being replaced" and doesn't provide prospective businesses a good first impression.
The new terminal will be built just south of the existing one on what is now the parking lot for the terminal. The project also will include redoing the parking area and some fencing, as well as some electrical work and water supply and drainage infrastructure.
After the new building is complete, the old building will be demolished. The project will receive state and federal funds.
