Missouri baseball rolls past Florida

Lavy belts two HRs for Tigers

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Zach Lavy belted a pair of home runs Saturday to support a strong pitching performance by Tanner Houck as the Missouri Tigers defeated the Florida Gators 10-1 in Southeastern Conference baseball action at Taylor Stadium.

Lavy hit a two-run home run in the second inning, then added another two-run shot in the sixth. He is the first Missouri player to hit two home runs in a game since Blake Brown in the 2012 season.

Houck pitched the first eight innings, scattering four hits while allowing one run. The freshman didn't walk a batter while striking out six. He retired 21 of the first 22 Florida hitters he faced.

Austin Tribby pitched a scoreless ninth for Missouri.

Brett Bond also homered in the second inning for Missouri. The Tiger scored three runs in both the second and third innings before scoring four in the sixth. Florida's run came in the eighth.

Bond, Lavy and Trey Harris all had two hits in a 10-hit Missouri attack. Ryan Howard and Josh Lester drove in two runs each.

Missouri (21-11, 7-4 SEC) and Florida (24-8, 6-5) will conclude their series today at 1:05 p.m.
